Junior Industrial Designer

DELK currently delivers product solutions through two core brands, FrostGuard (Cold Weather solutions) and MYCHANIC (Hardware and Auto tools). We are seeking a candidate who’s passionate about designing the next generation products and services and comfortable tackling all aspects of the design process — from user research to physical and digital prototyping to telling a project story to the key stakeholders within the organization.

Our design studio is growing. This Industrial Designer will contribute to the aesthetic and ergonomic development of our products, which will directly reflect on look/feel and user experience of the product. The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of proportions, aesthetics, creativity and user empathy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and iterate design intention through sketches, prototypes, renderings and communication with manufacturers
  • Develop product from concept to factory production while adhering to budgets and timelines
  • Define Materials, Colors and Finishes, Optimizing Design for Manufacturing.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and required
  • Correspond with overseas manufactures to keep design intent/integrity to mass manufacturing
  • Develop ID Documents that Clearly define all aspect of the Product design, colors materials and finishes

REQUIRED SKILL SET

  • Strong understanding in product development processes and industrial designer’s roles
  • Self-manage projects and deadlines, strong organizational skills
  • Excellent skills in ideation, concept visualization, form development, CAD, model making and rapid prototyping
  • Excellent 2D and 3D skills: fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite and 3D such as Rhino, Alias, SolidWorks, ProE and KeyShot
  • Hands-on model making experience and skills
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge and understanding in a variety of materials and manufacturing methods
  • Clear communicator and possess the ability to present to upper management and key stake holders throughout the organization
  • Collecting and sharing trend insights with team members

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design
  • 2+ years of experience in Product Development
  • Experience with Chinese manufacturing and overseas travel
  • Involvement with consumer goods from concept through manufacturing

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • International Travel required. Approximately annual trip overseas
  • Must submit portfolio to be considered
  • Must be able to work in the USA
  • Fixed relocation package will be considered for qualifying candidates
